Two Kinds of Series

Our original intent was to publish only nonfiction, as at the outset we drew heavily on the backlists of a couple of nonfiction writers, but we now publish both fiction and nonfiction.

Nonfiction Series

Our goal is not to generate a list that balances all areas of nonfiction but to stick to our last. Perhaps selfishly, we aim to publish titles of particular interest to us that we feel will enhance the reader's permanent library. These fall into four general areas: (1) cultural history; (2) business, economics and economic history; (3) memoirs; and (4) collectors, collecting and collections. Many are from the back list of our first author, Linda Hewitt, but we add other titles from time to time. We also occasionally publish guides or manuals of current utility. That is, they are intended to be used in the short term and are probably of less interest for a permanent library collection. On the Nonfiction Page is a list of titles already published or to be published in the upcoming year, together with a summary of the formats in which they currently appear and/or are scheduled to appear.

Fiction Series

Initially, we had no intention of publishing fiction. None of the authors with whom we first worked wrote it, and there were plenty of publishers already doing a terrific job with a lot of very interesting writing. Then we met Gail Hewitt, a cousin of one of our nonfiction authors, who had an idea for a multi-volume series called LOVE, ROMANCE, AND BUSINESS that combined business with true love and romance as it tracked the life of a beautiful young woman from her uncertain teens into her enterprising forties, and we were hooked. We especially liked the fact that the series featured interconnected characters and sitautions but that each book stood on its own and made a satisfying read in and of itself.

Now, we have the first title in our second series, ARTFUL DODGER, about a Savannah-based cold-case sleuth with a tragic secret in his own past. Next comes our third series, Pen Fairchild's ROYAL PROGRESS, about a distant world where colonists have finally found a political and social system they think is perfect only to learn the hard way how wrong they were. Also upcoming is Edie Kirkland's series OUT OF TIME AND PLACE, about time travel, showing that the good, old days aren't necessarily good and may not remain in the past where they belong.

Numerically, fiction still isn't a strong focus, but we're getting there. On the Fiction Page is a list of titles already published or to be published in the upcoming year, together with a summary of the formats in which they currently appear and/or are scheduled to appear.
